This course was designed by golf course architects Ron Garl and Howard Swan. Using these two architects allowed a collaboration to maintain a European flair while using the best of natural Florida beauty.
Ron Garl has more than thirty years of experience and is a recognized authority on the sport. He is also the recipient of a bachelor of science in turf grasses from the University of Florida, and a contributing author of a book published by the Urban Land Institute called “Golf Course Development in Residential Communities”. Ron Garl established his practice in 1970, and has gone on to design more than 150 golf courses worldwide. Just a few of the 85 Florida golf courses Garl has designed include: Palm Beach Golf & Polo Club, West Palm Beach; Timacuan Golf & Country Club, Sanford; Grenelefe Golf Course (South Course) Haines City; Sugarmill Woods Golf & Country Club, Homosassa; Fiddlesticks Golf & Country Club, Ft. Myers; just to name a few.
"Our goal at Eagle Creek was quite simple: to create an outstanding golf course that was totally unique in the Orlando area.” remarks Garl, “We have blended some unique Florida concepts along with waste areas to successfully create a course unlike any other in Central Florida. The concept of the course design at Eagle Creek is deeply rooted in the tradition of the game, inspired by the classic architectural forms and nuances of the Old World links."
Howard Swan used his extensive experience designing golf courses in Europe to bring a little European Flair to Eagle Creek Golf Course.
"Bringing a little bit of Europe and golf tradition to Eagle Creek has been a great challenge for me as a British Golf Course Architect. The compact greens, the rectangular tees as well as the style of many of the bunkers is truly traditional and essentially British and will make Eagle Creek stand apart".
Howard Swan founded the British Association of Golf Course Constructors on 1980. He is past president of The European Institute of Golf Course Architects. In 1987, already an international leader in golf course design, Howard Swan founded by Swan Golf Designs Limited. Swan’s company services clients worldwide, providing comprehensive golf course architecture including master planning and detailed design, feasibility studies, design and course management, and general consulting. Howard Swan is well known in the field for golf course development in countries where the sport is just emerging. Interestingly enough, Swan designed the first golf course in Croatia in 1998. He recently designed Eagle Creek’s sister course, Boavista Resort Golf Course in Lagos, Portugal. The combination of these two styles of golf course design really created a cohesive blend of European style and Central Florida natural beauty.
The magnificent two level clubhouse has been designed in the style of a vintage New England Manor with a little bit of European style, carrying over the theme on the greens. A pro shop and ultra modern locker rooms with private showers are just a few of the perks this luxurious clubhouse offers.
The Clubhouse restaurant is another one of these perks. It is an intimate 120-seat restaurant with a spectacular view of Eagle Creek’s signature 18th hole.
